Group (9:1) Barre-Pilates Sessions
Movement is the essence of life. And our bodies were designed to move.
Barre-Pilates classes focus on the functional strength training in combination with Pilates movement principles utilizing light hand weights and resistance bands with the focus on building overall strength, coordination, balance, flexibility, and core stability.
Intelligently Crafted Classes
As a personal trainer with a corrective exercise background I design each class to build the entire body strong within a carefully crafted sequence of safe and functional exercises blended to the music. No dance background needed! All levels are able to participate!
My unique sequencing starts with a basic move and adds layers of complexity and challenge, giving you options to stay at whichever layer that is appropriate for you that day.
Fun & Motivating!
Classes are challenging, but NOT exhausting and dangerous. The focus is on function and fun—we want to strengthen our bodies but not grind them to a pulp!
To commit long term to consistent exercise, fitness needs to be enjoyable and motivating.
I LOVE barre! I teach functional barre, exercises that enhance your day to day life by building your body strong and capable. We do that by using light hand weights and resistance bands so our joints don't get overloaded and sore.
Every movement begins at the core, so it's necessary that we build our strength from the inside out. Pilates-style core exercises create a strong "powerhouse" (abdominals, muscles of the hip, low back, gluteals, pelvic floor) which has been proven to reduce back pain, neck pain, improve posture, athletic performance, stabilize hips, and pelvic floor dysfunction.
Each class consists of 30 minutes of standing barre-style exercises (with a high backed chair for support) in combination with 20 minutes of Pilates-style core work on our mats.
Please bring to class:
- 3-5lbs hand weights ($15)
- 12 inch mini loop band ($10)
- 6 foot resistance band ($10)
- yoga mat

As a personal trainer for many years I am a big believer of commitment for long term success.
Commit to participating every week for the next 12 weeks to see the biggest improvements.
BONUS! While we work on the same sequence of moves for 3-4 weeks, you will have access to a filmed version of the same guided workout you can do as often as you'd like at home to gain even more strength and endurance, and thus see more benefit! This also works well when you are unable to come to a scheduled class, you can still perform the guided workout when you can at home.

Fully renovated and updated, bright and airy, the Church Hall is a GREAT space for our Barre-Pilates classes.
Current PHO Covid Regulations: as of Sept 13, vaccination is required for indoor group fitness. There are currently no high intensity or low intensity fitness restrictions, however, as a precaution each workstation will be placed 2m apart and classes are limited to 9 participants. No mask is required when working out at your personal work station.

Inner Strength Training (IST)
Your workouts are tailored to meet your needs, abilities, and goals using my Inner Strength Training (IST) method (explanation of IST below). As a ACE-certified personal trainer, NASM-certified corrective exercise specialist, and certified Pilates instructor with multiple trainings in both classical and contemporary methods you are in the very best hands.
What makes the Inner Strength Training (IST) method different from other training programs?
IST is about honouring where your body is at and giving it what it needs - a balanced health regime. It's about functional movement training, building our muscles with effective movement patterns. It’s about creating a strong and balanced body from the inside out. Working our supporting intrinsic muscles helps stabilize the body's foundation, so that our extrinsic muscles (the surface “power” muscles) can do their job properly and purposefully. The IST method works both your intrinsic and extrinsic muscles for a whole body approach to strength and cardio training. While reaching your desired weight is important if that is your goal, IST is challenging, however, is it not about arduously struggling to obtain an impossibly perfect body shape.
